In the first ECOFUNC podcast, Fabio di Lena shares how VTT connects science, industry and market needs to build ambitious projects with a realistic path towards impact. Europe’s sustainability challenges require more than promising technologies. They need the right partners, complementary capabilities and a shared understanding of the problem to be solved. In the first […]
Submission window: 1st August – 31th October 2026 Format: Call for solutions + online pitching session Pitching session: 26th November 2026 (online) ECOFUNC is building an ecosystem where disruptive materials and circular solutions don’t stay in the lab, they find the right partners, get tested fast, and move closer to market through real collaboration. Vanguard Partner For Materials Challenge 1, we are teaming […]
A strong start for bio-based collaboration The first Bio-Based Pathways #1: NextGen Materials – Sustainable by Design webinar brought together a growing community around bio-based innovation and cross-sector collaboration. More than 60 participants joined the session, and over 80 people registered for follow-up B2B meetings, a clear signal of interest in connecting ideas with concrete […]
Connecting with the European bio-based community ECOFUNC was present at the CBE JU Networking Event 2026 in Brussels, a key gathering for projects, organisations and stakeholders working across the bio-based and circular economy landscape. The event created a valuable space to exchange ideas, present ongoing activities and explore how different initiatives can work together to […]
From bio-based ambition to practical implementation How can bio-based innovation move beyond promising project results and become part of real market and industry practice? This question was at the heart of the “Bioeconomy 2030+ – from roadmap to implementation” event, organised with the involvement of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). The event […]
Connecting ECOFUNC with the circular bioeconomy community ECOFUNC was represented at the European Biomass Conference & Exhibition – EUBCE 2026 in The Hague, bringing the project closer to the European biomass, bioeconomy and circular materials communities. The conference provided a valuable space to exchange ideas on how bio-based innovation can support more sustainable, circular and […]
Twelve months into the ECOFUNC journey, our consortium came together again in Kortrijk, Belgium, for a few inspiring days of exchange, collaboration, and shared ambition during the General Assembly and the second ECOFUNC project meeting. It was exciting to reflect on how the work is evolving, and even more motivating to get closer to the […]
17th December 2026 | 11:00–12:00 We spend most of our lives indoors, yet the materials that surround us are often invisible to us, even though they shape how we feel, breathe and live every day. In this fourth Bio‑Based Pathways webinar, we explore how interior design choices can actively support health and wellbeing, while also […]
10th November 2026 | 11:00–12:00 PHA is often called “nature’s polymer”, but its real breakthrough happens when it can be made into reliable, high‑quality products. In this third Bio‑Based Pathways webinar, we will spotlight the real-world ways PHA can be processed, turning a promising material into practical formats that industries can actually use. ECOFUNC is […]
30th September 2026 | 12:00–13:30 What makes a bio‑based material work in real products is often the “ingredients” inside it, the bio‑based additives and components that deliver performance, safety, durability and processability. In this second Bio‑Based Pathways webinar, we’ll explore how bio‑based ingredients are being developed and used to enable next‑generation materials that can meet […]
30th June 2026 | 11:00–12:15 New bio-based materials are moving fast, but turning promising innovations into real-world products still depends on the right partners, testing routes and validation opportunities. This first Bio-Based Pathways webinar brings together early-stage developments from ECOFUNC and other EU-funded initiatives, with a strong focus on collaboration needs, complementarities and practical next […]
